Several of the islands of the Bahamas are popular cruise destinations for vacationers from the USA because of its unique natural scenic beauty and exquisite white beaches.  Due to its proximity to Miami, Florida,  there are short cruises convenient for a weekend experience ranging from 1 to 4 day cruises. There are basically seven cruise ports destination in the Bahamas that are included in most of Bahamas Cruise packages.

Port Lucaya, Freeport

Freeport in the Grand Bahama island is an excellent shopping port with plenty of duty-free shopping bazaars. For a three to four-day cruise from Florida, it’s a worthy experience that shouldn’t be missed. Other activities include a wave runner ride along the coast, a trek to Caylanas Aqua Park and an island-style beachside barbecue. With magnificent coral reefs surrounding the island, it’s a great place for snorkeling.

Great Stirrup Cay

This secluded island is a virgin paradise of beautiful white sandy beaches with a natural landscape of coconut trees. Great Stirrup Cay is where you can find various species of reptiles, birds and fishes. It is a great place to relax and unwind under the shades of the trees by the beach. There are also plenty of natural coral reefs, home of various species of fish and is a good place for snorkeling. Enjoy a beachside barbecue with a background island music. Half Moon Cay

Shared by Holland America, Windstar and Carnival, Half Moon Cay is a small private island that boasts beautiful white beaches. It is famous for its two-mile crescent-shaped beach, an exterior and an interior lagoon. A part of Half Moon Cay is a wild bird preserve where various species of birds resides and is protected by the government. Shore excursions includes horseback riding or hiking the around the island’s untouched beauty aside from swimming, sunbathing and relaxing on the beach. Half Moon Cay also offers scuba diving, snorkeling, kayaking deep-sea fishing, parasailing and glass-bottom boat riding.

Nassau

Nassau is the capital city of the Bahamas and is where shoppers spend time in the famous straw markets and where those guests who want to unwind relaxed along the white beaches of Paradise Island. Treks to Crystal Cay and Blue Lagoon Island are popular shore excursions aside from snorkeling and diving. Cruise ships dock just a few steps from downtown making it easy to explore the beauty of Nassau in less time.

Princess Cay
